About the Project
The Objective of the UNEP-GEF MoEF project on ABS is to increase the institutional, individual and systemic capacities of stakeholders to effectively implement the Biological Diversity Act, 2002 and the Rules 2004 to achieve biodiversity conservation through implementing Access and Benefit Sharing Agreements in India. This project is being implemented in 10 states of India namely Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Goa, Karnataka, Odisha, Telangana, Tripura, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh and Sikkim. The executing organisation includes NBA in collaboration with the 10 SBBs, Botanical Survey of India (BSI), Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Environment Programme - Division of Environmental Law and Conventions (UNEP/DELC), United Nations University – Institute of Advanced studies (UNU-IAS) and Global Environment Facility (GEF).
